Spam! (Our Cheers) |
|
|
An Anthology of Fighting Tiger Cheers Over the years, several "staple" and "historic" cheers of the Tiger Pep Band and DPU StumbleBums have been saved. Most of these cheers were penned by Tiger Pep Band's very own "Pep Band Poet Extraordinaire" and french hornist Jeff Radcliffe. Later, cheers were created from the never-ending energy supply of flautist and "Pep Band Member Extraordinaire" Cameron Mott. They wrote the cheers, led us (or tried to), and sometimes even explained the big words that none of us could quite decipher. translation: E to the x dy dx, E to the x dx. Secant, Tangent, Cosine, Sine. Three point one-four-one-five-nine. Phi, Pi, square root of three. Fight 'em, fight 'em! R. H. I. T. | In tri-color attire we now arrive for boredom and sadness we do despise. Hoot and hollar we will in haste, but never together, or in good taste! (Like Spam, our beloved luncheon meat, the flavor of which nothing can beat!) To Tiger pride we make this effort, and nothing but victory do we purport. In the stands, on the court 'r field, sometimes even instruments we wield. With great music and trademark antics, we're better than any five-dollar flicks. (However, admission we do not charge, so the crowds might get a lil bit large!) To Tiger honor we make our mission, and nothin' but victory do we commission. When all is over and said and done, it's been hours and hours of just plain fun. Tiger Pep Band and Maniacs, too, have we nothing better or worse to do? (Heck, "Hell, no!" Comes the reply! "Surely we could learn to fly!") To Tiger spirit we do commit, and with these words, we sure prove it. | 10/5/1996 vs. Anderson | 11/2/1996 vs. Manchester Spartans | | Once upon a clear blue day The Tiger band came out to play In their new shirts of garish gold They were a wonder to behold and and on the way they stopped to say the Ravens shall not win today When Anderson boasts that they will score Quoth the Tigers -- "Nevermore." We'll play the Hey Song 'till they cry And Born to be Wild until they die. There you stand -- We are the band Please give us a rousing hand! Spam, spam, etc. | Good afternoon, we are the band, We come with music by demand (So please don't give us reprimand.) Our yellow shirts are kept from sight To keep the other team from fright (And also to prevent frostbite.) We don't need no stinkin' heat To send the Spartans to defeat (Or play the tunes we think are neat) We'll build our giant pyramid And raise a joyous cheer amid The parent's weekend crowd Who ever shall be proud of us! (Rousing cheer of Spam) | Blood | Beat 'em! Bust 'em! | | B! L! Double-O! D! We want Blood! Blood makes the grass grow greener, greener! Blood makes the grass grow greener, greener! WE GOT SCREWED. | 10/11/1997 The (Band) People vs. Franklin Grizzlies | Greek Tigers | We're the band, we play and cheer, And puncture Hector with a spear, And spell words like contortionism, And talk about the papal schism, And saute' leeks, and chant in Greek, And watch old reruns of Twin Peaks, And yeah, we also play the flute, And horns, and drums, and kiwi fruit; (Which by the way is quite nutritious And makes a snack that's quite delicious) But Tigers wearing pads and shoes Will give those Franklin dudes a bruise: "The football game we'll surely win:" to paraphrase Anais Nin.
