    Recent DePauw University graduate Katie Doogan has been named the 2008 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Woman of the Year

  • Katie Doogan '08 is SCAC 'Woman of the Year'
    Katherine "Katie" Doogan, who graduated from DePauw University last month, has been named the 2008 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Woman of the Year. As the SCAC winner, Doogan will also be nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, which award recognizes senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

    "I enjoy doing it or I wouldn't have been doing it this long," Nick Mourouzis tells the Banner Graphic. The Greencastle newspaper features Mourouzis -- DePauw University's all-time leader in football coaching victories -- who held his 28th camp for kickers and punters at Blackstock Stadium last weekend.

    The DePauw University Tigers are listed as a "team to watch" in the Sporting News 2008 College Football Yearbook, which is now on newsstands. The team returns 13 starters from last year's 8-2 unit (7 on offense, 5 defensive players, and one kicker).

  • ESPN The Magazine Cites Scholar-Athlete Erin Andrade '08
    Erin Andrade, a May 2008 graduate of DePauw University and a member of this year's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion women's tennis team, has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine At-Large Academic All-America Third Team. A biochemistry major who graduated magna cum laude, Andrade was a Presidential Rector Scholar and Science Research Fellow at DePauw.

  • Tiger Catcher Competes vs. USA Softball National Team
    "It was such an honor to just play for this team," says Rachel Gill, who last night competed against "the giant -- the world's No. 1 ranked USA Softball National Team" at a game last night. Gill, a catcher on the DePauw softball team, played as a member of the St. Louis All-Stars in the exhibition contest, which the USA Softball national team won, 6-0.

  • DePauw Finishes Year 18th in Directors' Cup Standings
    Paced by seven teams with top 10 NCAA finishes, the DePauw University athletics program finished the 2007-08 year ranked 18th in the U.S. Sports Academy's Directors' Cup standings. Launched in 1995-96, the Directors' Cup honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program and achieving success in both men's and women's sports. DePauw totaled 570 points for its fourth-best finish in the 13-year history of the program after finishing 15th last year.

  • Sophomore is Finalist for Honda Division III Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year
    "DePauw University pitcher Megan Soultz, a sophomore from Carmel, has been named one of 11 finalists for the Honda Division III Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year," reports Indiana's Noblesville Daily Times. "An ESPN The Magazine softball academic all-district selection, Soultz also is a first team All-America choice and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year after posing a 36-4 record with a 0.98 ERA." The winner of the Honda award will be announced June 25.

    DePauw head women's basketball coach Kris Huffman has been selected as a court coach for the 2008 USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team Trials, June 9-12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

  • Kris Huffman Named Court Coach for 2008 USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team Trials
    USA Basketball today announced it has selected DePauw University's head basketball coach Kris Huffman and Seth Goodman of Monroe College (N.Y.) to serve as court coaches during the 2008 USA Basketball Women's Under-18 National Team Trials, June 9-12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The U18 trials will feature 35 U.S. hopefuls, born on or after January 1, 1990, competing for one of 12 roster spots on the 2008 USA Women's U18 National Team.

  • Soultz Named a Finalist for Honda Division III Athlete of the Year
    DePauw pitcher Megan Soultz has been named one of 11 finalists for the Honda Division III Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year in an announcement made by the Board of the College Women Sports Awards
